Our Sustainability Framework

Our framework reflects our commitment to responsible healthcare — one that supports not only the health of our patients but also the communities and environment around us. Anchored in five strategic themes across ESG pillars, it guides our efforts to embed sustainability into every aspect of our healthcare delivery.

Sustainability Governance

Sustainability is embedded in our governance framework, with clear oversight, accountability, and integration into enterprise risk management.

Our Five Strategic Themes

Guided by our framework launched in June 2025, we focus on five strategic themes to drive sustainable value for our patients, people, communities and the planet.

Key Focus Areas

Climate action & emission management

Energy management

Waste management

Water management

Approaches & Initiatives

Phased Removal Of Desflurane

Phased Removal Of Desflurane

Since 2023, we have implemented our Greener Theatres Campaign to progressively phase out the use of Desflurane. Reducing Desflurane use helps lower our Scope 1 emissions, as Desflurane has a Global Warming Potential approximately 20 times higher than Sevoflurane.

Energy Efficiency

Energy Efficiency

We have invested in energy efficiency initiatives, including high-efficiency chillers, LED lighting and motion sensors to optimise energy consumption. Hospitals also conduct energy audits to identify inefficiencies and improvement opportunities. Selected hospitals are exploring greener cooling tower water sanitisation solutions to reduce reliance on conventional chemical treatments while improving energy efficiency.

Renewable Energy

Renewable Energy

We are expanding the use of renewable energy across our hospitals, with many already equipped with rooftop solar photovoltaic systems. This supports our commitment to increasing clean energy adoption and reducing our carbon footprint. We continue to explore opportunities to integrate solar PV into new developments, expansions and future projects where feasible.

Waste Management

Waste Management

Our hospitals adhere to robust waste management policies and procedures to ensure the safe handling, segregation and disposal of waste in compliance with applicable regulatory requirements. Licensed vendors are appointed to manage scheduled and clinical waste in accordance with regulatory guidelines. Where feasible, hospitals also implement recycling and upcycling initiatives, including recycling non-contaminated IV drips and saline bottles, repurposing linen into baby blankets, and other fabric recycling and awareness campaigns.

Water Management

Water Management

Our water stewardship efforts focus on promoting efficient water use across our hospitals. Ongoing awareness initiatives encourage responsible water consumption in daily operations, supporting our broader commitment to resource efficiency and conservation.

Green Mobility – EV Charging Facilities

Green Mobility – EV Charging Facilities

To support green mobility, our hospitals are progressively introducing electric vehicle (EV) charging facilities to encourage the adoption of lower-carbon transportation options. We continue to explore opportunities to expand EV charging infrastructure across our hospital network as part of our broader efforts to reduce carbon emissions.

Plant-based Meals

Plant-based Meals

We started plant-based initiatives at selected hospitals to promote lower-carbon and healthier dietary choices. These initiatives include introducing plant-based meal options at in-house cafes, as well as awareness campaigns and events to encourage adoption and gather feedback for wider implementation.
